Good Monday morning to all you critter and land loving folks. This past week we had the opportunity to attend the Black Hills Stock Show. We had the privilege of attending an appreciation social for local farmers and ranchers, and also manning a booth for an evening. Wouldn’t you know right next to our booth we visited with a gentleman who had some great knowledge of grass in our area. Clay had a hay-day…sorry pun totally intended. You just never know what resources will be handed to you.
On Tuesday our daughter celebrated her fifth birthday. She is pretty easy to please as all she really wanted to do was take the lamb and one baby goat to preschool show and tell. It was a wild time, funny farm come to town! She also spotted a Percheron horse at the stock show she was pretty sure she needed, we will have to work on that one!
Our cows were officially brand inspected and now legally belong to us. Our big boys decided they needed purple ear tags because that is their school color-Go Broncs! Our nurse cow is coming along with taming down. I made had set the goal to be scratching her down by yesterday, and I made it, phew. Next week I hope to shoot for getting a halter on…we will see! And just in case you were wondering what it takes to get Clay and me out of town for a night to man a booth, it takes one set of grandparents to watch four kiddos, and one set of grandparents to watch the bum lamb that will need a bottle in the span of time you are gone. We couldn’t do all this fun crazy without them! Blessings to you, yours, and your operation.
