Good Monday morning to all you critter and land loving folks. I have always had the pleasure of having a good ol’ dog by my side, all thru my childhood years until now, they have all been good ones. The one we have now though, he is something special. Tonka also known as Honkey Tonk, Tonkey, Honk, and a variety of other goofy things that almost sound like Tonka, he will respond to. He is half Great Pyrenees and half Bernese Mountain Dog. He is by instinct a guardian dog, and that is what we wanted, but not for our critter livestock, we wanted a guardian for our wild two- legged loves. A yard patrol who would help alert our kiddos to dangers such as snakes. He is such a gentle giant, and he is worth his weight in gold, and he weighs quite a bit. If I happen to flip through my phone picture roll of the kids, Tonka is just always right there in the foreground of the picture, just keeping tabs on his kids. He is also great for making sure my free- range chickens are safe from ground and aerial predators. If you have a guardian breed you understand there isn’t a whole lot training these breeds, they are a strong-willed type and like I said earlier they have crazy instinct that allows them to just know to keep tabs on what they are bonded to. If you have a good four-legged ranch hand today give them an extra pat and maybe even a treat, they add value to our operations.
Blessings to you, yours, and your operation.
