Good Monday Morning to all you critter and land loving folks. We have been on the go lately and life has been full which we count as a privilege. Sale day came and went with what I would consider great success. Safe travels for those I love, and a quality product delivered to the customer. Win! Win! I didn’t tag along on any of the sale days, but Clay saved the day and took some photos for your enjoyment!
Our biggest news this blog is our two oldest boys got to bring home their very first cow. A beautiful black baldy heifer which was their pay for helping a family friend with his shipping day. Translation our boys are extremely expensive to hire as day labor. . . no the real truth is they are extremely blessed! Blessed to spend days outside, blessed to help others out, and blessed when people see potential in them and give them gifts that come with opportunities and responsibilities. To say they were over-the-moon is an understatement. They were both talking a mile a minute and thrilled to inform me they had named her Shelia. What a gift! And thank you dear family friends, you are a treasure, and it is safe to say you have given them the itch to own and care for cattle!
So with sale day and a new venture underway for our kids, I have one word for this blog – network. It’s the people around you and the opportunities you are given that make working cows the hardest and best job all in the same day. I would gently challenge all of you if you think you have your network set – reach a little further. Expand and learn a little more, people have so much to give if you let them. Maybe you will find that the boots you are wearing today are ones that have walked there already and you are in the position to give – go ahead and give. The next generation needs your gifts of knowledge and time. Clay and I would have never imagined at the start of 2017 the diverse network we would cross paths with by the end of 2017. It has been a wild ride! We hope you have been enjoying the Working Cows site and resources. Until next Monday, blessings to you, yours, and your operation.

I love how you made sure to point out that the younger generation can learn so much from the older one and that deals were done on handshakes and trust!!
