Happy Monday all you critter and land loving folks. As far back as I can remember it was always a spring tradition for my sister, mom and I to crank open the bathroom window, and listen intently while getting ready for school, to see who could hear the first meadowlark. My handy South Dakota Grasslands calendar informed me by the middle of March I should start seeing Meadowlarks as they should begin to migrate through the state. Well, I am happy to say they finally arrived this week, a joyful song in tow. I was all to glad to shoot that group text to my mom and sister announcing, for the second year in a row, that I had won, I had heard the first Meadowlark! I think I may win this game from here on out simply due to my location, but I still felt the need to announce my winnings, spring is coming! My children have even picked up on this fun little hunt for spring as they have all taken note of the fact they have heard the meadowlarks are back, maybe another generation has been corrupted! Funny what things a change in season will bring to mind, they are all a gift to enjoy. “I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.” Psalms 50:11 NKJV. Go enjoy those birds and beasts of the field.
Blessings to you, yours, and your operation

I’m a Nebraska transplant living in New Mexico. The ringtone on my phone is a meadowlark call just to remind me of home. Good for you (and your Mom) for teaching your children to pay attention to the Good Lord’s rhythm of the seasons.
