Good Monday morning to all you critter and land loving folks. Spring is starting to set in around here, and it is a busy season, just like they all seem to be. Here is just a small glimpse of what we have going on: baby chicks being moved outside, new kittens being raised for Grandmas house, the first neighborhood branding in the books, bum lambs, baby goats, a few opens hauled to town, a new milk cow, a new cow dog, and desperately trying to keep ranch kids in long enough to finish up the school year. I am so thankful for all the opportunities to serve and steward what is in our wild circle of life. A simple joy that was not included in the Spring list is the start of the garden that now fills every windowsill in the house. Tomatoes, squash, peppers, dill, and flowers are taking off, but I won’t dare to put them outside here until the first week of June. My second oldest watched me with a little question as I mapped out my garden for the year. Then I showed him my map from last year, explaining how I try to rotate for better soil health and plant things together that grow well together. He assured me that was a great idea, and we both discussed how excited we were to eat good food from our garden together…these are a few of my favorite things.
Blessings to you, yours, and your operation.
