Good Monday morning to all you critter and land loving folks. We had some more wonderful rain this week and are enjoying having mud at the end of June, a novelty. We, mostly Clay, have endeavored this year to get a cover crop in our back hay field. This is a small field, but we would love to see it kick started into some better production, and more profitable ground to graze. We have done several things with this small pasture since we moved here. We have hayed it, we have windrow grazed it, and we have just done a quick graze across it during the drier year. This is our first attempt at a cover crop or farming of any kind for that matter. We couldn’t have had any better shot, as this last rain was a little over two inches. We are excited to see what it does! Another highlight of the week was of course the roller dung beetle that was spotted and caused some funny excitement from our kiddos! We admittedly do get excited about some strange things around here!
Blessings to you, yours, and your operation.
